Do White Painted Cabinets Get Dirty
I just wipe the cabinets here and there when Im doing dishes.
Do white painted cabinets get dirty. If you do white trim your cabinets will read dirty or at least more of a color like butter yellow or whatever the undertone of the off-white is. Your kitchen cabinets can get pretty dirty over time due to the usual kitchen stuff. A few shades lighter just equals dirty looking trim.
While white cabinetry doesnt inherently get dirtier than say wood cabinets it is certainly easier to see smudges spills and splashes which tend to blend in more with darker or patterned cabinets. They get dirty just like any other color of cabinet or wood cabinet. One says white cabs always show the dirt so theyre more work to keep clean.
The answer might surprise you. I fall into the latter group. Its not a forever decision.
Yes they get dusty and dirty but so do white ones and Id rather see the dirt and clean it than just have it hidden. The other camp says white cabs are easier to keep clean because you can see the dirt. Another negative aspect of white cabinets is the constant maintenance and cleaning they require.
Off-white will work well but only if your trim molding is the same color off-white. White kitchen cabinets are actually no harder to keep clean than any other. Sure they arent as forgiving as darker colors but that doesnt mean they have to be any less durable or easy to clean and maintain.
Oil-based paints also known as alkyd paints sometimes. Darker surfaces wont show every crack and smudge but lighter options definitely will. In addition to wiping down the counters regularly you will also need to dust more than once a week continuously wipe off fingerprint smudges and swab up grease and grime as soon as it accumulates.
