I think sandpaper does a better job preparing the surface than any deglosser on the market. After cleaning the cabinets with TSP youll want do a light sanding. Roughly 1-2 coats will do.
Stir the gel fairly well with a long paint stick. I think I managed to keep the charm and character it had. Use a paint brush to apply the stain.
Once the final coat of stain is dry you may want to apply a polyacrylic finish to seal the stain. Gel stain is very user friendly to work with. Wait 24 hours then apply a sealing finish using a foam brush.
