Where Should Cabinet Handles Be Placed
Simple straight handles in a 3-to-4-inch screw hole spacing will work well enough for most cabinet functions.
Where should cabinet handles be placed. For lower cabinets place them in the upper corners. The first route is to put knobs on all the upper cabinets and pulls on all the lower cabinets creating a harmonious visual appearance. In some cabinets the top drawer can have a slab style while the lower drawers are Shaker face front. So that you can easily reach for it.
The same goes with pulls on cabinet doors. It should be the top rail in case of base cabinets. While on base cabinets knobs are usually placed 2-½ to 3 from the upper corner of the door.
The second option is to put knobs on all the doors and pulls on all the drawers prioritizing function. The center of the base cabinet drawer rail is another popular place to install a pull handle. Center-to-Center the distance from the CENTER of one screw hole to the CENTER of the other screw hole.
They work their very best on narrow drawers but they can work fine for wider drawers especially when installed in pairs and swinging cabinets. Therefore you cant follow a standard approach for hardware placement. A good rule of thumb is to center the hardware horizontally on the stile.
